Looking for basically what the title says. A propane grill with a smoker combo. I’m a novice, so looking for suggestions from people with experience. Thanks

I don't have one, but I've been eyeing this: KC Combo Grill.

Youtube reviews on it seem pretty decent.

I have a midsize Camp chef pellet smoker with a propane searbox attachment and it has been great.

I've had the OK Joe Combo and my brother had one as well. It will rust out and be junk in a couple of years. The gas side will have burners that rust out and turn into flame thrower a. The smoker side us so poor and leaky you will struggle to get consistent temps. You'll have to work hard tending to the fire only to get frustrated with the results.

My recommendation is to get a Weber Spirit gas grill and/or Weber Kettle/Weber Smokey Mountain. I say and/or because I don't know the purpose of the charcoal side.

If strictly for smoking get an 18" WSM. If you want versatility to charcoal grill or smoke some ribs brisket, pork butt, etc. A Weber Kettle is extremely versatile, effective and there are a million videos out there to show you how to smoke on a Kettle. Plus you can get a new Weber Kettle for cheap, $100.

I've had mine for over a year now and have had no issues, but I clean it out, keep it covered, and honestly only use it once or twice a week.

For my uses it has been a really nice combo option. I could see it being an issue if left out in the rain consistently or used on a daily basis.

It was a good starter combo, but if I had to do it over I would skip ahead to the setup I outlined and save yourself some money. You'll eventually end up with a Weber gas grill and a Weber or PBC or some other type of dedicated smoker.

ETA: for you guys down south and that have an Academy store, the very best "cheap" offset smoker you'll find is the Old Country Pecos. The way it's designed, the stack position lends to better airflow and all welded construction means it seals up well. Just make sure you hand pick it out to ensure there are no flaws. About the only mod you'll need is some tuning plates. Wish I had an Academy up north here. The nearest is in Kansas City.

I bought it about a year ago when I moved into a new house after moving to TN. Since then my brother gave me a BGE, so I have that available as a smoking option. And I'm working on an outdoor kitchen that will have a built-in propane or natural gas grill.

So, I never planned on it being permanent, but I've been impressed with how well it's held up so far.

This is what I have. I have a Weber Performer Kettle that is my main grill. It worked fine for the past year, because Covid prevented me from having too many folks over for cookouts, but I knew I would need more capacity, eventually. I picked up a Weber Spirit 2-burner recently, for 57 bucks at Lowe's (it had some cosmetic damage that is almost unnoticeable). The gasser is for quick weeknight cooks and overflow. The kettle is the workhorse.

Between the two of them, I have less than $1000 dollars invested, and I have all the toys: Slow n Sear, PizzaKettle, DigiQ, etc.

The Kettle has lots of accessories, lots of toys to add on to it.
