It’s decent food if you want to do some day drinking and then get hungry. But I haven’t heard people going there just to eat. Especially when there are so many better places nearby in the Heights.

Yeah I can see this. Why I said in general that area is really good for bar/brewery hopping all day.

For sure. I live around the corner and bounce from place to place often. Rarely at Cedar creek though. I’m guessing that would be a more frequent destination if I had kids to lug around.

Better food and better bars within walking distance from Cedar.

Bungalow has underrated bar food. Also the scenery is top notch.

Side-note: those bars need to do something about how many people drive there. The amount of shite faced people that drive in Houston is out of control

I was leaving dinner the other day and some dipshit leaving McIntyre’s almost smoked my car

Something bad is going to happen down 20th one of these days. Idiot 21 year olds stumbling all over the road to Drift and drunk drivers is a bad combination.

If I owned a bar, I would charge for parking (valet or meter) and offer a free drink if you should me your Uber to the bar.

Oporto is always a good option near downtown.

First time I've ever heard that opinion. Who in Houston, excluding ninfas, do you prefer?

The grilled redfish topped with peppers and garlic is amazing, and I'm one who honestly never orders fish at a restaurant because I believe I can always cook it better myself.

Can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone say that about El Tiempo...there are locations that are better than others, but overall I’d say it’s the best chain Tex-Mex in the city.

There is definitely a hipster take that el tiempo is overrated

If there is Tex-mex joint that has better batting average on quality of dishes than please point me in the direction.

I honestly think its behind the other mid range chains in the city. I accept that I'm in the minority with this take

I need a litmus test here. Would you pop into a Houston food thread to say that Lupe Tortilla has the best fajitas in the city?

Lupe Tortilla

I always like to say Darrell's and Johnny's Pizza have to be the two most overrated eateries in Louisiana, and now having lived in Texas for 7 years, I'm ready to say that about Lupe Tortilla and Pappadeaux's in this state.

Don't understand why so many people in Texas and even outside the state seem to love those two places. The food is very mediocre for the prices paid.

There is usually something half assed decent on any of the Pappas family restaurant's menus, but there is absolutely nothing redeeming about Lupe Tortilla.
