There is a guy at vwatts trade mart in Livingston that reconditions old ones and sells them in his booth also. He usually has a decent selection if someone is not comfortable ordering online on ebay. I have sold him several pots over the years. I would find them at estate sales but I am not a restorer. (Most of the time they just need to be polished up). Nice guy. Reasonable /ebay type prices.

Magnalite is aluminum. Aluminum is suspected of contributing to alzheimer’s. The doctor in the family threw all of ours out. Seriously.

This theory was debunked 40 years ago.

Hope that doctor does not use foil, soda cans, or antiperspirant either.

This. Such bullshite. We (doctors) should be ashamed. I use aluminium pots and pans regularly. Absolutely no good science behind this quakery.

Anybody got some vintage Magnalite they’d like to sell me

St. Gabriel Hardware has several McWare pieces. Left side end cap on the main aisle.

Wife bought me a Mcware for Christmas and just broke it in with an etouffee. I love the thing and can’t wait to cook in it again. Thanks for all of the suggestions!

If can only get the china version it's cooks fine.

This thread had me thinking. I have 2 of the 5qt pots, both magnalite classic. 1 is made in Korea the other in china. I use both. I've always thought they weighed slightly different. I just weighed them. The pot (3.8#) and the lid (2.7#) for the Korean version around about .5# heavier each than the pot (3.2#) and lid (2.2#) of the Chinese version.

I've never had issue cooking with either and don't know if that .5# matters.

I'd be curious what the made in USA versions weigh if anyone can post.

Was at my brother’s house this weekend and he was cooking a pork finger and deer sausage rice and gravy in his 20 quart Magnalite. His barber who’s in his 70’s came over to pickup some oysters I shucked for him and saw the pot. He said hang onto that pot, it’s worth it’s price in gold. Googled and saw it was $250 to $300 for that size. Makes a damn fine gravy and gumbo.
