Would love to try it, but I'd think NOLA Pizza Co. and Pizza Delicious have a bone to pick with that.

I am not a big pizza guy. I will eat any kind of pizza. Here is my question, what makes a pizza a really good pizza?

Crust
Probably the biggest factor. I think the additions that go on top of the crust can make or break a pizza as well. I don't like toppings that immediately fall off the slice as soon as you pick it up. Sometimes people load it up with way too many chunky items and it's a disaster. Shitty cheese also ruins a pizza. Have you ever had that waxy cheese on a pizza? Fricks it all up. I like my pizza with a good amount of ricotta on it.

it very much has a Sysco pizza look to me. I shouldn't even say that having not tried it. I'm just saying from their photos, I think standard sysco pizza joint at pizza napoletana prices.

Negative, homemade in house crust that he consulted with expert help to create that includes having a mixing valve to have the exact water temp, and water filters to remove certain minerals and leave the desired ones. He has gone through much research trial and error each step of the way to create what I think is the best pizza.
At the end of the day, it may not be everyone's favorite but no one can say it is a bad product, and by no means is it a sysco take and bake product
oven baked

There is an old saying that goes "no such thing as a bad pizza". Your statement above is a long way from "Best pizza in the state ….Diversion Pizza…prove me wrong"

He has my attention then. As I said the appearance didnt make me think of a well done crust. Kiddos to them for doing it right.

Two things stood out to me with the pizza: I ate half a pizza and didn't feel overly full. Three pieces and I usually am done. Didnt get the "itus" or feel bloated. The other is that it reheated very well. I grabbed a pie on the way back to houma and heated it up that night and it was not greasy at all. Two big plusses for me

I may have to detour on Sunday on our way back from Fairhope.

It's great pizza. The owner is a friend of 20+ years though, so I'm somewhat biased. However, I pack the family up every other Friday and we go down the river 45 minutes to eat pizza. What's been said about the crust is consistent with my take on it. Can eat a ton of it without being full. Same for the bread sticks. My kids (who normally stack their crusts up like Lincoln logs) even eat the crust. Salads are great too. He says he's not losing money on the salads, but I don't see how. They aren't expensive and are a gigantic bowl of high quality ingredients.
I haven't tried reheating it, I just eat it cold for breakfast the next day.

would love to try them side by side, but from the pictures I still go with diversion
the stock photo above looks great, the other 3 pies... not so much, i am sure they taste great, but order the same pie from both places and compare real pictures
i will try mid city soon and tell you what I think, I invite you to do the same with diversion

I think it just comes down to different people like different types of pizza. I'll have to give it a try sometime, but the shape and proportions seem all off on the diversion pies. It looks like the pre-made pizza hut pizzas in the Target hot box.

Compared to the pizza I make at home on my blackstone pizza oven, which was a bit overloaded since I was starving and also had fresh roasted garden peppers(below)
