Had a double chocolate shake from there for the first time a couple weeks ago. Pretty damn good.

Double D in Larose

Don’t know how old you and swamprat are but I’m almost 70 and I remember going there as a kid.
Don’t remember the name back then. I do remember when two brothers had it. Harold and Roland. Known as the H&R then. Harold got out, Roland’s wife Ruth got in. Known as the R&R then. Some people had their own idea what R&R stood for. Roland and Ruth semi retired and their sons took over. David and I think Darrell. Hence the Double D. Darrell got out and David’s wife Darlene got in. So know it’s the D&D. But everybody still calls it the Double D. Just a bit of DTB trivia. I sometimes still go there. Chili Dogs are awesome. I recommend the hamburger steak.

Steak and shake has a great banana shake.

A dog and a shake from freddy's works although they can be kinda thick. I like that but to use a straw is a must for a shake IMO.

For a quick drive thru, a Arby's jamoca shake is the best of those national national chains.

Otherwise known as Steak 'n Shake, and I agree.

I didn’t know the back ground of the name but I’ve eaten my fair share of food. Grew up across the bayou from the place. Ride bikes over the bridge for chili dogs, malt, and some street fighter arcade!

Who knew there were so many DTB peeps on this board.....DD’s chili dog special is my inflation index. I spent plenty of time in the grimy back area playing the OffRoad arcade game, or watching my brother play. The chocolate soft serve tastes nothing like chocolate, but is its own weird ice milk sort of chocolate flavor. When I was a little kid, you could get a baby Dixie cup (the kind with the fold out paper handles) of soft serve for a quarter. (The cheapest Elaine’s snowball was also 25 cents.)

Grew up down the Delta Farm road. Road our bikes too. Man that brings back some memories. And a breaded veil on a large bun, sweet potato tater tots and chocolate shake ain’t bad.

The first video game I ever played was Pong in that grimy back room. Boy if those walls could talk. That place has been (will be) there forever!
May have to hit it up Thursday. Closed Tuesday & Wednesday.

My dad grew up down Delta Farms but we lived along the north side of the Intracoastal.
