i'm sure it would really kill him and his budget to drop another $10-20 to get a real quality steak.

Longhorn

Someone made reference to a certain steak at Longhorn on this board once. Said it was very worth trying. Can't find the thread and forgot which steak it was.

Anyone recall?

Futch, best bet is to pick up some quality cuts and cook them yourself with some friends and some beer.

It's way cheaper than paying restaurant prices on food & drink.

Bonefish has a good steak for the money. I got a fillet with crabmeat gorgonzola butter as a topping that was great. $22-25.

That's easy to say when that $20 might not be budgeted out for use the next week or to fill up his gas tank so he can drive to his parents or something.

Not only that, but his dinner company may not be looking to spend more either. Or if he has friends buying, he may be wanting to keep the bill down.

And to those suggesting he/she grill their own...it's his/her birthday. He/She obviously wants to go out, not make their own bday dinner.

Amazing how some people refuse to answer the question, and change the scenario.

I don't know if there's a Carrabbas in BR, but the steak marsala there is right around $20 and comes with 2 sides. Very solid.

Outback is very reasonable with their steak prices. A steak and 2 sides for under $15 there. The last time I ate there, the steak was a little bland to me.

I think with places like Outback, Logans and Longhorn, the biggest factor is going when a good cook is on station. A friend of mine used to cook at a Logan's, and he really knew what he was doing. Huge difference between his steaks and others.

ETA: There is a Carrabba's in BR. I recommend the Sirloin Marsala. Their garlic mashed potatoes are real good as well. For a few extra bucks, you can get the Filet Marsala (though it's not on the menu.)

Honestly, the Filet Marsala was one of the better steaks I've had at a restaurant, Ruth's Chris included.

Yep! Foolish mistake. And, I've done it myself. So, I'm a dope too. And, I, seriously, agree with you.

Texas Roadhouse Grill.
Get the Ft worth Ribeye or Texas T-Bone for about $17 with 2 sides.
Great steak, fun atmosphere.

I thought of that as well. but based on how NIH was answering, I figured his counter to that would have been something like, "Well, frick those dudes, if they don't want to spend extra money on your birthday, then don't invite them."

You'll prolly spend $20-30 (depends if drinking) at Outback. Why not go to TDB for $50 and eat your arse off?? U can sign up online and get one meal for free since its your bday. So u and a date (hopefully a chick) can go for like $50. Which for the amount of food u will eat is a good price

Actually $10-$20 more than I can afford might cause me to overdraw. I know you probably don't remember being poor, but I know that when I have a limit, that's my limit. Not because I'm being cheap or saving, but because I'll overdraw and die

This is fun, but I mean .. how many people want to spend their 21st bday at home? I enjoy doing this as much as the next person but it won't be my 21st bday.

He's probably looking for somewhere lower-budget to look out for friends moreso than himself. I had my 20th bday at Bistro Byronz not because I couldn't have a nice meal, but because I couldn't invite college kids to a $50/person dinner.

I did... but it was on a Sunday. I had done it pretty big the night before just drinking.

Yeah, I mean my actual 21st bday will be me sleeping because I leave at 6AM the next morning for Vegas. But I meant when referring to birthday celebrations, inviting friends over just isn't 21st birthday material for most people
