I use it almost exclusively. It’s right up there with JD and Fogo, if not better. I get Rockwood from Goodwood.

That’s a few votes for Rockwood in here. I’ll need to try and compare to this JD I got.

It's so hard for me to justify spending $25 or 30 bucks on a 20lb bag of charcoal. I buy the cheapest shite to run in my gravity feed smoker, wonder if I'm missing out?

You're not. Kingsford blue bag will do the same job for way cheaper.

Alot of thee guys run Komodo/BGE/Ceramic cookers if I'm not mistaken. Lump will shine there.

I only used it one time, but I'm also going to pick up another bag when my current bag runs out. It's started to pop up at a lot of the Ace's around here so it's gotten easy to come by.

I feel like the unicorn is uniformly sized lump that lasts a long time with charcoal that burns hot. FOGO has always lasted awhile for me and I never have to add lump on long cooks, but it takes forever to get up to really hot temps, which is a pain for reverse searing.

Rockwood is great for low and slow, and scorching hot. The only problem I have seen is uniformity and smaller pieces recently. I think this is across all brands right now though. Don’t get me wrong, there are quite a lot of large pieces still, I’ve just noticed an increase in smaller pieces recently.

I should've put this in my OP. Yes, I am using Kamado Joe, and big lump is ideal for ceramic cookers like this. When I was using my Weber Smokey Mountain in the past I actually used Briquettes for the even burn time. It has been a while since I've used these, but I believe I was using the Stubbs briquettes. They don't have filler in them, so they burned slow and clean.

I should also clarify. My comments are in relationship to a ceramic kamado. I have a large BGE.
