The blade design on the Kitchen Aid is really good, not as powerful as the 2 big dogs.... but, has a good sharp blade design.

I use my Vitamix every single day.

For something cheaper, go Ninja. Does a great job but I'm all about my vita. Worth every penny.

Just a PSA, wait until Macy's does their family and friends discount, it's 25% and they carry vitamix.

You will not regret it.

If I'm not mistaken you still get a 7 year warranty on them refurbished or not.
