No you're not. Weber's get plenty hot enough to put a good sear on whatever you're cooking. My weber (summit) gets up to almost 700 degrees

I have that exact unit. Cannot wait to sell it. I just don't have the time anymore to babysit an offset.

Smoking a porkshoulder on that thing is a job. It works for me, but I have to check it once an hour which is a pita
Not a total solution, but the gigantic pieces(logs bigger than my forearm) of charcoal in this bag last for way longer than briquettes,

My attempts to repair the Great Outdoors grill failed. Must buy new. I've looked at everything here. Broil-king and Broil-mate do not show La. dealers. I know Weber is the higherst quality, but damn you don't get much for $500. No Ducane anywhere near.

If I had to do it now, it would be either the Huntington(great reviews) or the Broil Master from Lowes. Not impressed with anything at home depot or the Brinkman/Charbroil line up. Really torn.

Best value for the money is the old Weber kettle grill.

Best grill when you have disposable income would include the Egg and the like..

Spend $700 on a Weber and you will not regret it....if you want gas.

I got one of these as a wedding present 5 years ago.... I've had my Weber Summit for just over a year. When I hauled it out to the curb, the insides completely disintegrated- that's how rusted out it got in just 4 years.... covered with a grill cover for 2 of them, and under a patio cover the other 2. There's a good reason that company went belly up a couple of years ago.

Check out Amazon for good prices on Weber. Also if you have a Rewards CC, see if you can get any rebates by ordering it online (with my Chase card, I get 3% Cash Back from lowes.com, for example). That might soften the blow a little.

So, get the 3 burner? We are a family of three where the 3rd rarely even eats meat. Could I get buy with the 2 burner? Spirit vs Genesis?

I think the Spirit is assembled and/or manufactured over seas and many Weber lover's dislike this about them. I would stick with the Genesis. I think the 3 burner is worth the extra money. That is what I have my eye on.

See, I was amazed at the quality of mine. It lasted 11 years, and had the burner connection to the venturi not failed, it would be good to go for a long time more. Nothing else even looked aged at all. I probably could have found parts on the net, but did not feel like fooling with the unknown.

Very possible. Just got back from Lowes. The Huntington unit just put on clearance for $199. Hmmmm.
