Going in May for daughter's (no pics) college graduation and would love to try the best local food. Love simple comfort food but if there is a great place, especially seafood, would love to know. Google is my friend but you guys have never steered me wrong. Thank you!

For comfort food, Haberdish is the best in town.

Beloved F&DB icon Guy Fieri has featured a Charlotte place at least 20 times. Your research starts HERE.

I left there 10 years ago and I’ve never heard of one of those places. Sports Page was always a go to kinda like a Mason’s/ City Cafe with really good wings.

If you want breakfast Shuffletown Grill is great.

Make sure you get away from Downtown (called uptown) and there's alot of options.

FYI-dont expect good seafood. Charlotte is too landlocked.

$$$
300 East
Good Food on Montford
Beef N' Bottle

For less expensive options, here's an extensive list: Charlotte Cheap Eats

Here's the entire guide to the Charlotte food/drink scene: LINK

Charlotte has bad barbecue. Sorry, but it does. It has no identity. There are eastern style bbqs and bars that serve bbq.

But you won't find good lexington style q there.

If you are in SouthPark....try the Cowfish burger/sushi bar.

DO NOT GO DOWNTOWN. It is now not even fun....it's dangerous as hell since about 2019.

I'd actually recommend driving to Belmont, 20 min east. It's a downtown with less chances of getting robbed.

Dude, this is Louisiana based message board. The thought of CLT being more dangerous than pretty much any place in Louisiana is laughable. I've lived both places. I'd walk with around uptown with $100 bills falling out of my pockets before I'd go near most of metro NOLA right now.

From a food standpoint, CLT consists of different pockets of neighborhoods/boroughs around the downtown area. Each one has its own vibes and you can choose which vibe you feel like that day/night.

ease up 'big playa.'

this isn't a pissing contest. but ever since covid and a few things that have happened nationwide, downtown charlotte is not the place to eat anymore.

i wish i could show the video my boss took at ruths chris on trade.

either way, you can tell me how bad NOLA is and I would believe you, but you'd be foolhardy to be in center city at night. it's just a dumb idea right now.

If you visit Concord that is a short drive from Charlotte, The Smoke Pit is some of the best barbecue that I have eaten outside of Texas.

I lived near uptown from 2015-2018 so I just could not believe it could be "bad". I remember feeling that the bad places around CLT are nicer than most of South Louisiana hah.

Not trying to have a "who's crime is worse" argument, it's just hard to fathom. Uptown was always so clean and relatively quiet - outside of the HBC tourney.

If COVID messed that up, that's really sad.

Well, I'm staying Uptown (Downtown). I'll let you know how dangerous it is now. Mind you, My opinion may be skewed, I grew up in the Irish Channel during the 70's and 80's.

I stayed at the ritz c. Sorry. No brag but it was wife’s birthday.

That night front desk asked that we not go out in the street to whiskey River.

They suggested staying inside hotel a steak house.
