What do you think of the breweries they chose? Who's your winner?

Click on the link if you want more info on how they picked the entries. Hint: They used Untappd. It's not perfect, but better than anything else I've seen out there, because it doesn't eliminate smallish breweries.

The actual winner is a popularity contest, though.

NOLA and Parish are crushing it in the best southern brewery bracket.

This is the most inaccurate rankings of breweries I think I have ever seen

Parish should have been on that SE list before Jester King.

JK is pretty much one-trick (though I hear very good) with their sour/brett stuff.

Parish does everything from hops to barleywine to sour to stouts, and with very good reviews.

It's not a ranking. They only tried to pick the top 8 in each region. The seeds are based on number of ratings on Untappd, not on which ones are the best breweries.

Don't pay attention to the seeds, just who is in the bracket.

Not going to argue this point, but that is where the it get subjective. De Garde, Casey, Cascade, The Bruery all specialize in American Wilds. They say it's to pick the best brewery, not the most well rounded brewery.

This.

Also, the bracket is currently in the elite eight. It's pretty much 1 vs 2 in each region except the southeast which is 1 vs 3.

I realize they just took rankings from untappd, but

Bearded Iris >>> Parish. And bearded iris didn’t make the cut either.

Oh...me too. And I think Andrew’s a bit of an arrogant douche, but he brews good beer.

I guess when I think of “Best Brewery”, I think of those who can brew top notch beer of a few couple different styles.

I’m a big fan of LaCumbre. I probably have more personal 5-Star Untapped ratings for beers they’ve brewed than any other brewery. But all those beers are IPA style. I don’t regard them has brewing real top tier for stouts or anything else. So it would be tough, IMO, to say they are a “best brewery”.

The most glaring error that I'm surprised nobody has brought up yet is that breweries in the Midwest seem to have fallen through the cracks. Surly and Three Floyds come to mind.
