Nothing to be proud of, Russ. Fifty yards...

That's funny, because I don't live too far from Sherwood and Coursey, and I find it one of the more abysmal food areas. The only ones I consider worth mentioning are City Cafe, Dempsys off Coursey, and I suppose Albasha if you are looking for a Mediterranean flare, and I've eaten at all the rest on multiple occasions because of my proximity I alluded to. I just don't find it very appealing, and end up going elsewhere around town for food.
Definitely an eye of the beholder thing. I like ethnic food and I think Sherwood is a good match for ethnic places because it's high enough traffic to generate a crowd, but probably low enough rent compared to town center, where rent is high in most spots, so it needs chains or places that are going to attract volume.
I love having the ethnic choices within blocks of me. Add that I like Uncle O's more than Dempsey's for the same genre and I like that stretch of Sherwood.

The Sherwood location of Albasha is the weakest of their locations. Corporate and Bluebonnet are noticeably better.
There is some good stuff around the Jefferson/Government nexus too.

That's interesting that you say that because I've often seen people on here opine that the Sherwood location is the strongest. I'd have to agree with this relative to the Corporate Location. I have only been to the Bluebonnet one once that I can recall.

Pretty strong list, although you're talking about about 5 miles of Florida Blvd. there. You're talking heart of mid city clear to the doorstep of Livingston Parish.
My little stretch is maybe a mile, tops. I can stretch it out to Florida and take in all the Viet stuff, plus the little French Restaurant on North Harrell's Ferry.

No love for Bay Leaf? Really?

I've been to the Corporate, Bluebonnet, Sherwood, and Prairieville locations, all on several occasions.
I haven't noticed a damn difference. One of best things about that place is their quality control.

I'd not list any of the above as "awesome." Good? Yeah to all. But awesome?
In its genre, Bay Leaf is awesome. Can't say that for any of the other places in question. Rama's probably our best Thai, but it's not so good that I'll drive 8 miles across town to go to it instead of the local place. Chelsea's is OK. Galatoire's is OK. I like Parrain's, but can name 3-4 Lafayette-area places that I like more. Your Italian place is well behind Nino's and Gino's, IMO.

Sorry, I didn't mean the best ever. I meant very good.
I might change my answer to I-10 service Rd.
-Ruth's
-Ninfa's
I could live off of those two places alone...

When I'm jonesing for a Margarita, the I-10 service road is a contender.
But Towne Center might win that one. Love me a Qdoba Margarita. No bullshyte. It's good. Maybe not the best drinking atmosphere, but hey, you can't win them all.

DiGiullio Bros. is the Italian place
Also, you left off a few along that stretch.
George's
Pinetta's
Burgersmith
Bulldog
Bushwhackers
Marcello's (or whatever it's called now)
Magpie
Rock n Sake

I'd rank it a bit higher than OK. It's my go to with entertaining NOLA associates and it has failed to let me down yet. You can tell they love what they do and their food shows it.

Didn't forget it. Jury's still out for me. I've been twice. Enjoyed it the most recent time and not so much the first time.
Just hasn't done enough for me yet, but I won't condemn it either.

You went once, in the first month of business, and over analyzed it while you were there.

Now i'm curious...Has Portico completely revamped their menu and start serving tasty food that is totally different from crap they served during their 1st few months after opening?
I take these comments with a grain of salt because Walk-On's food supposedly had gotten better, and it hasn't.
I know I know, these places are bars 1st & meh to nasty food 2nd.
