Got food poisoning there once from the brisket sandwich.

Also, got a special that was a duck confit sandwich with house made orange marmalade - the duck was still swimming in grease to where I couldn't eat the bottom bread bread, yet the duck had no flavor because it was completely under seasoned, and the orange "marmalade" had big chunks of raw orange rind with the white membrane still attached making it extremely bitter. It was one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had. Both of those terrible experiences were at the overpass location.

Then I tried the brasserie to give it a final shot and the special burger that I ordered medium came out barely seared on the outside and completely raw on the inside.

I really wanted to like the place because I respect what they are trying to do in Baton Rouge but they just haven't executed the food the times I've been.

Agreed, i think city pork is terrible other than the charcuterie board. i've eaten there several times, twice on the chef's menu with a group. those two times were bad experiences for everyone at the table. most of the food was too salty to eat and our bill was ~$200. that and Gino's were the only 200$+ meals that i've ever had that i thoroughly did not enjoy.

my list would include Bin 77, Ninos, beausoleil, bay leaf

eta, putting a piece of bacon into a drink is stupid. its like putting ice cream pizza....sorry, had to get that off my chest.

You're part of the exception or one of those people who finds something wrong with most meals.

i realize this. i will say that i've had good lunches at the perkins location. my dinners and 1 brunch at the jefferson location is where i've been disappointed.

It's what the waiter told me so I rolled with it. Certain things they don't make, like gnocchi and mussels. Those are apparently not Sicilian staples.

I've only had one bad experience at City Pork, and it was a special event that just wasn't well organized. The food was still fine, but the event didn't run as advertised.

The worst experience I had was finding their burger patty for Burger Week to be too small.

He was actually super friendly but I think it was because pronounced "bruschetta" correctly. That just made him all kinds of happy.

Alot of people go to a restaurant they may have had a bad experience with a second time expecting a bad experience. Subconsciously planting ideas in their head that the new attempt at the restaurant will live up to their already bad expectations.

I find it hard to believe that a business that is know for their consistency and above average quality food would be their fault and not the patrons.

You lost me at the boards being boring, small, and not that good. The Grand Board was split between my GF and I and I'm a pretty big baw. after eating that we decided to split an entree and honestly we could have just made the board our meal. It was delicious.

I could go there and get a board and a couple of old fashions (bacon on the side) and be happy. Or I could eat sandwiches for lunch and be happy. Everything past that, is just not that good. It's hard for me to call a place top 5 when thats all they can do.
