I know Franklin is the one everyone talks about but ain’t no body got time to stand in line for 2-3 hours for lunch. I know there has to be other places that are comparable... especially looking for one that’s open for dinner to

ETA: also any other good places to eat... staying close to rainey st. Especially good Tex mex/margaritas

Terry Blacks is solid, conveniently located, and hasn’t been much of a wait when I went.

Agreed - I find Terry Black's to be underrated, in comparison to many others in town.

Lambert’s is open for dinner. It isn’t as good as some of the other options but is right in the thick of new downtown development. You can walk around, stop in the W for a drink. Bar hop between 2nd-4th streets

*coopers on Congress. From there you can hop 4-6th steeets

I was at stiles switch on Thursday night. Brisket and sausage were amazing.

I went to Stiles Switch last summer, and honestly it didn’t impress me much. I mean don’t get me wrong, it was good, but not nearly as good as what I was expecting.

I'm a stiles switch person mainly because the sides are pretty good.

I've been hearing that Slab BBQ is pretty good but I haven't had the time to go try it. Anyone here been?

I’ve gotten that suggestion from a few people... guess I’ll have to make the drive there.

Valentina's. They have the world's best brisket tacos.

There's a new BBQ truck called Whitfield's that's supposed to be awesome. The pit master actually used to work at Valentina's.

It's close to where he's staying, but on the bottom tier of bbq in Austin these days. There are plenty of other better places, most of which have been mentioned.

My favorites, in order are:

Valentinas (in South Austin) - usually not a very long wait (30 min?)
La BBQ - Decent wait, probably at least an hour.
Terry Blacks - Not much of a wait - awesome sides
Micklethwait - Food truck - not much of a wait.
Stiles Switch - not much of a wait

Franklin is the best but the wait is just too much for me.

LaBBQ

Also, check out some of the other Austin threads onthe board. There are many and all have great suggestions.
