Anytime im on the other side of the river in Port Allen, I always go to CouYons.

Meat is good and the loaded potato casserole side is one of the best things i've ever put in my mouth.

Louisiana BBQ should be good, but often isn't.
Baton Rouge:
Couyan's has the best brisket, but their sauce is putrid.
Bergeron's has the best ribs, but they only do them on Wednesdays
Smokin' Aces is probably the best overall BBQ place.

The best BBQ in New Orleans was cooked by an old black guy who would cook outside of Vaughan's when Kermit Ruffins was playing.

The best BBQ was always made by old creole or cajun people who just set their pits up randomly. Restaurant BBQ in South Louisiana is mostly garbage.

Big Jakes BBQ in St Gabriel.

Problem is they only do lunch during the week but I think they also cater. It is a family that moved to BR from Texas and opened up a BBQ joint. It is the best I've had in BR period.

Grayson's BBQ in Coushatta is the best in this state. Its been open for over 50years and I cant go fish black lake without going by. I grew up in Texas and I can honestly say this place would survive in Texas serving BBQ. Also McClures on Magazine has very good Q, so does the Joint. but that big brick pit at Grayson's say it all. when you build the building around your pit your doing something right.

Up on Scenic Hwy, almost across from the Winnfield Funeral Home. You'll see a black smoker set up in front of a snowball stand thingy. You pay at the stand, take your ticket to the pit, and the old man there hands you meat right off the grill. Get the "pork steak" (pork chop) for the win. Oh - cash only!

What's the best BBQ in the south Louisiana area?

The Joint.

If you want wings , Blue Oak does those exceptionally well.

seem to find real good BBQ like the Shed in MS.

If your definition of really good is The Shed, The Joint will make your tongue explode.
