If you want a dive bar, someone should reopen the Whitehorse. It would be perfect.

In big cities hipsters flock to what they consider "dive bars"

Used to be that one in the basement of the old Little Village. It's since gone through several transformations. Not sure what's there now.

The happy note was a great place to people watch, not to mention, get loaded on the cheap.
You had sorostitutes and full-time career alcoholics. Christmas was always great, as was Tommy the bartender.

Never been to Cedarcrest. Someone fill me in

Went there once, and it was on Mardi Gras, after being in New Orleans all day, so things are a little hazy. The drinks were real cheap. I know they open at 7 a.m. or so for people who want a drink after working the night shift.
I like The Office. Not the douchebag joint downtown, this place is on Florida right before the Livingston Parish line. First time you go there, you get a free drink for being an Office virgin. When we went on a Tuesday, they had a free potluck dinner.
Mrs. G's is good too. It's also on Florida. They have a big oval bar and it's purple and gold inside.
Herson's is another good dive. It's on North and North Acadian. Regulars can buy their own bottles of booze and they keep them labeled behind the bar.

I stumbled in this odd place once some years ago. I can't believe it's still open. Hell, I couldn't believe such a place would have still been open at the time I stumbled in there.
