Curbside is my favorite and its on par with just about anything in NOLA. It's silly to think otherwise. They're doing pretty much the sane thing the best places in NOLA are doing. Pimanyolis is making a damn fine traditional freshly ground in house burger as well. Its a frickin burger. Mastering a recipe and technique isn't a culinary wonder.

Masons isn't grinding their own burgers and can be replicated by anybody that wants to. I like their bun and shrimp burger though.

Haven't had Rauls in years, but I just remember it being a flat top greasy drunk food burger. Good I guess. Just not what I look for in a burger before 10 PM.

nice. You suck if you've only found 1 good burger in the city of BR.

Exactly. The homerism is strong in this thread.

It's that "because it's from NOLA it's better" mentality. oookkk.

And I probably spend 7-12 weekends a year doing nothing but eating in drinking in NOLA because there is so much more to try and do so I've tried almost every place on anybody's list of "best of".

It's just being capable of being objective. It's a thing that's hard to find on this board at times when it comes to the NOLA vs BR ridiculousness.

Would you say Fat Cow is better than Burgersmith?

I'll give you multiple reasons. For staters, they have been able to temp it correctly every time I've been there compared to smith. Next is the lettuce and tomato and pickles, which are all much fresher and crisper. Then there's the bread they use which is much much more preferrable, mimicking a chiabatta. Every time I've tried Burgersmith it's been a soggy sloppy mess. There's no texture and it's falling apart, and all for very good reasoning.

I think there are some generally recognized elements on a sandwich that makes a good sandwich good and a not so good sandwich what it is, especially when it comes to meat in between two pieces of bread. First you have to simply execute, but there's also the meat quality which I would say is about the same either place, then there's fresh ingredients which is one of if not the most critical of things in any dish, and then there's texture when you bite into it, flavor combinations, and more does not always equate to being better when it comes to condiments.

Then, there's next level sandwiches which make almost everything in house, including the protein, focus heavily on components that add both flavor and texture and get it. The end result is it makes your mouth happy. For BR, that's Curbside.

People don't always dissect a sanwich to think about it, but usually know when it's on and when it's off. The same reasoning behind a burger is the very same behind a really good roast beef poboy. Do house made roast beef like a real sandwich shop is supposed to and it's next level when done correctly. Buy premade sliced RB and it's adequate, and only has the potential to reach so high, almost always being just like the one down the street, because guess what? It is the same sandwich.

Thanks for expanding on why you think it's laughable.

There's some damn fine burgers here in Nola, Hi Hat being my favorite. At the end of the day I would take a KGB from Curbside over any burger in Nola.

Impossible you've tried everybody's "best of list". I eat out everyday and my list of places to try just keeps growing not shrinking.

I understand the BR vs NOLA ridiculousness point you make but the truth is the food scene in both places aren't even in the same league just like the college football teams. When LSU plays Tulane we already no the outcome. Same when we compare NOLA to BR on this board.

You're right. I missed a lot on TulaneLSU's best of lists. But I'll have tried 70-80% of most peoples "best of" list I would guess. Not really hard to do when you have 25-30 meals a year for the last 4 or 5 years and coming to the city for 20 and do nothing but try the "best of". I'm there to eat/drink/watch Saints/conventions. I don't stop at Subway or similar. Ever.

The bad part about not living in the city is that I rarely repeat high end places and only if the food was really on point.

And NOBODY except a few NOLAtards think it's necessary to point this out and nobody is claiming it. But if you can't understand that it doesn't require a culinary degree from the Culinary Institute of America to make a good burger. Just a few key points to nail and that little ol BR can have a few places that are on par w/ NOLA then I don't know what to tell you. Like I said as a whole, of course not, but blind taste test of top 2 or 3...absolutely.

Hopefully you bring your own food.

For making a point? Thought that was the whole point of a debate? Excuse me. I'll concede.
Is this where you insert the obligatory OT pic?

Yeah. I do. It's the dumb statements like, "I've only had 1 good burger in BR. Every other burger sucked" comments make me .

ETA: Oh and don't judge me You can't even bring yourself back to the MT board because of people making posts/comments about things they really don't have a clue about. So

Curbside is easily the best offering in BR. Raoul's is a drunk burger as someone said, I used to be able to eat that shite sober in high school.

It's not the biggest or best but I think Brew Bachers does a pretty decent burger.

And Tramonte's is pretty good but it's different, it's like meatloaf.

All the chain places like 5guys, mugshots, times are all meh.

I'm goin to Nola this weekend, I want to get down on one of these aforementioned burgers.

oh and Fat Cow, it seems like it was better when it first opened. But I haven't been there since I talked to some friend's little brother who worked there and said that when they grind the meat, they just throw a whole bunch of butter in there at the same time. that kinda grossed me out.
