Cook's Illustrated recommends 45 minutes to an hour at 450, until an internal temp of 205. That's when a Thermopen comes in handy. Hitting 205 is key to getting a nice, fluffy interior.
We have one of the red bags for "baking" a potato in the microwave. It works okay, but follow the instructions about not just blasting on highest power, and keep an eye on it. Tom Gresham, the gun writer/radio guy from Natchitoches, burned his kitchen down with one.

I baked 10lbs of potatoes, 17 russets, in the oven last night. 425 deg and they were done in a little over an hour. It's my opinion that once it gets up to temp, the oven, which is controlled by a thermostat, doesn't know the difference in one potato and 17 potatoes.

Tasseo,
What is your method?
When using a potato bag, do you poke your potato with a fork? Once? or several pokes? I found the red bags at Amazon, but silent as to poking the spud.
Yes I poke it with a fork. I tend to put one on each side so about 3 or 4. I stop it half way to roll it over in the bag. Does get hot from the steam so a little glove will help. The actual timing is the trial and error depending on the size of the potato. I just squeeze it thru the bag, and you can tell whens it ready. Sometimes it does look like you sucked all moisture from it, but it's not as bad as it looks once you cut into it.
Then I put it in the toaster oven to get the skin toasted for a min or so, as I love the skin more than anything.
I will say I know this is the quick 1 or two potoato meal option, and not the guest/party way of doing it. I love eating a small loaded baked potato as a snack, but before I started doing it this way i couldn't cause just took to long.
Good thing is how many pokes and timing depending on size of the potatoe can be done with some trial and error as it doesn't take so long. Also depends on the microwave. Kind of like finding the right timing for popcorn.

Bake at 400 after, washing and poking holes with a fork then kosher salt, no oil. 207 degrees inside use your meat probe temp.
