A lot of love for Via313 on here and I think it’s warranted, best pizza in the city.

It and like Paul said, home slice are the best in town. It all just depends on your mood.

Via is just that perfect Detroit style that most, if you're like me, didn't even know existed. The extra pepperoni is my favorite. So fricking good.

And home slice is a perfect NY slice. A little expensive honestly but also worth it. Good wine list as well.

It's good but not worthy of the hype...but Austin has become like Dallas with the love for trends and hype. Just as good pizza in Austin is Home Slice and East Side Pies and Pinthouse even Austin Pizza.

Yeah, and personal preference. I always found home slice to be overrated. I used to live in Travis Heights but would get via when I was craving pizza.

Most everyone else likes home slice so I know I’m the odd man out.

3 of what you listed plus via 313 would be my top 4 in the city:

Home slice
Via
Pinthouse
East side

Via deserves the hype imo. I love that shite. Specifically the oak hill one. It's better than the food truck at craft pride.

No doubt. I’ve been saying that for years.

Pizza imo is as subjective as it can get. I'll never shite on someone's opinion when it comes to quality pizza. So many seemingly unimportant variables to deal with.

The food truck one isn’t as good. Only eat there if you’re drinking on Rainey.

That's the only one I've had. And really, I've only been drunk when eating any of them.

I've only had that and the oak hill since it's the closest to me. A friend of mine from Detroit turned me into it and I just love it.

My aforementioned Detroit buddy directed me specifically to the oak Hill location and fortunately he said it was the best and made a perfect Detroit style pie.

It's the only one I know so I can't know if he's right, but I know I loved it.

I’m a big fan of Detroit style too. I took a friend from Lansing and they said it was very authentic so they must be doing it right.

I'm gonna hijack and ask you, I've only been here since April, but what are your favorites? I've done a decent amount of research and my wife works with restaurants/bars so I know a good bit, but always want recs.

Their pizza is so damn good. They're about to open their huge brewhouse so all these incredible one off hazy bois they've been making will be more readily available. Good news. Every edition I've tasted has been incredible. They are 120% dialed in on juicy hazy IPAs. My only complaint has been supply.

Haha. I’m the wrong guy to ask. I’m simple and old school. I’d eat P. Terry’s everyday if I could.

I’m a creature of habit and have my regular places:

Curra’s - I used to live right by it but I really think it’s one of the better Mexican places IMO

Polvol’s - another good south Austin spot that has a more interior Mexican menu.

I’m always up late so I find myself at 24 diner or kerby lane they’re both solid. Nothing groundbreaking but always consistent.

We’re talking about pizza earlier, and believe it or not, ABGB has a damn good pizza. Their panchetta with mushrooms, capers, tomatoes, garlic, and basil is really good.

As far as bars I like divey places:

04 Lounge
Casino south side
Crow bar
G&S lounge
Buddy’s place

Still one of my favorites but my wife had a bad meal there once and so now she won't go back.
