Atlanta restaurants just outside of the airport

I'm researching flights and it looks like I'll have a three hour layover in Atlanta from 5-8pm on a Saturday. Are there any restaurants relatively close that I could take a couple of hours, an Uber and have an awesome dinner? Not sure if that's feasible because I know Atlanta is huge. When I have a layover in Milwaukee I simply walk across the street for good, non-airport quality, non-airport priced food. I know Atlanta is far larger, but I haven't been there in decades. Nothing chain of course, but I'm looking to get out of the airport for a few hours.

The Atlanta airport is in a pretty bad part of town.
I don't think 3 hours is going to be enough time to get anywhere decent and make it back and go through security and get to the correct terminal. Traffic can be atrocious, depending on the time of day.
I've personally never tried it, others may have better suggestions.
ETA: ATL actually has a number of pretty decent restaurants. You should look in to that.

Doesn't seem worth it. I'd just go to whatever they're calling the heiniken club these days.

I've actually had a three hour layover in St. Louis and went to a Birds game for a few innings. Thought I might me able to take advantage of an Atlanta eatery. Looks like a couple of large Sam Adams whilst on a barstool will be my dinner.

Looks like I'm going to need to reinstall my gateguru app. I would highly recommend it for people that travel. It gives you a layout of each airport with various concessions.

ATL is the busiest airport in the world. Three hours really isn't enough time to get out and get back in and make your flight, as you need to give yourself an hour (minimum) from when you enter the airport to your gate ... TSA is a b!tch at ATL.
Plus, as already stated, there's nothing nearby that's really worth venturing to. The establishments within the airport are better options than what's available in the surrounding areas.

Yes. The food there is very good...ain't cheap, but very good with good service.
Took my youngest there on a short trip home after boot camp in Parris Island....he ordered and ate most of the menu (true). Bill was $400+ after tip.

Your One Flew South story trumps mine....I had thanksgiving dinner there a couple years ago on my way to Munich.

Spondivit's for great gumbo and steamed seafood....you wont regret it...very close to airport, Virginia Ave, just off freeway.
