I've never had bad service there. I've only been there for breakfast and one other time for lunch (got the fish and chips). The fish and chips were good, but that's kinda hard to screw up in my opinion. The full Irish breakfast was good, but like the fish and chips comment, breakfast is hard to screw up. I did enjoy their blood sausages, but they really skimp you on them. Their prices are fairly on the high side for what you get. The Irish House is also the kind of place where I'm going to keep it fairly conservative in my food selections (full Irish breakfast, fish and chips, bangers and mash, Guinness stew, etc.) Anyways, on a positive note, it's hands down the best pint of Guinness in town.

And the service is God awful.

Definitely the weak link of that place.

I find the menu a bit disjointed as well. Can't figure out if it wants to be a pub or higher end dining.

I really want to like the joint.

So, is there going to be a second date?

Is Irish House going to remain your test place for first dates?

I don't want to date him, LE. Pretty sure he's a youngster. I just like asking those questions and Neauxla hasn't reported any first dates in a while.

As a service industry person that gets off of work later than most people, I would put the Burger at IH on the top of my list as the best in the city for people like myself. It's on their bar menu, but it comes with cheese, bacon, and a fried egg and its all under $10. No kidding, best value burger in NOLA. Plus, Chef Matt is cool enough to sit at your table if you engage him and buy you a pint. Cant beat it...

You forgot about the coleslaw. Very crucial part of the burger.

I guess I've eaten at the Irish House 8 to 10 times. I've only sat a table a couple of times, and the rest of the time at the bar. So I've never really had a problem with the service.

Frankly, I think of it as a place to go once the weather turns cool. The bangers and mash are pretty damned good if you're in the mood. Beef stew, bubble and squeak, fish and chips, etc. It's not haute cuisine or anything, but I think it's fine.

My service issues have all been at the bar.

Wow. Really? I haven't been in months, and I know a couple of the bartenders have left. This guy, Evan, was pretty good. As were the others.

Were they inattentive? Was there problem getting food from the kitchen? I've never really had a problem at the bar.
