Even when cooking for a crowd, I don't think I've used more than 2 burners at a time.

I'm looking at induction cooktops and would rather get a high quality two burners than a decent 4 burner.

Thoughts?

I occasionally need three. But 90% of the time two would suffice.

I was thinking I could have a portable induction heating element if needed.

Only for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Two is generally enough.

now that I think about it, two is enough. But I definitely use the others as counter space and places for hot dishes/pans.

I'll say this, if you tell me I'm responsible for finishing dinner and I should just mind the four pots on four burners, you might as well go ahead and call in the pizza.

I'm not bad in the kitchen, but I'm gonna screw that up every time. That's about 5 tasks too many for me

Similar to the dual ovens, I think people justify having them more than needing them

I always wish mine was spaced out more so you could actually use all 4 at the same time.

You never need to bake 2 things at different temps?

Not enough to matter. Guess I have figured out how to make it work every time without sacrificing the product.

Maybe if you're single. My parents have a Jenn Air with two burners and the grill top and I can't stand cooking big meals there.

Depends on how you cook. Four is plenty for me. I can sauté, cook rice, and do a side dish at the same time, or boil pasta, put together a simple sauce, pan fry something, and cook a side all at the same time. I don’t need more than four. Two would be a PITA and something would be sitting around getting cold or,I’d have to use the microwave more for simple steamed veg sides.

I’d rather have four plus an excellent broiler.

I have a 48" cooktop, has 6 burners, and a griddle. Several times a year, it's good to have all 6...

Yep. But never at the same time.

Two is enough most times, but there are times you need more and therefore would not sacrifice them.

shite... sometimes 5 aren’t enough. My big oval magnalite covers two burners. A pot of rice, a veggie, and something else, and you’re done.

I use both ovens all the time and a lot of time I wish I had a third.
