I’ve had success seasoning them, then cooking on a lower setting (225/250) for 15-20 minutes to cook/render out some grease.

Dump them out and drain the grease, throw them them in a bowl in the fridge to chill for a few hours.

Once chilled, put them back in air fryer on high setting for 8-10 minutes or until crispy.

This was takes longer and requires more prep but it’s the best way I’ve found.

my only problem is most air fryers are small batch so you have to cook so many batches of wings.

Could you cook them 90% done in a big oven batch and then air fryer finish in shorter bursts?

I followed the link posted earlier and they were fantastic. I used baking powder then hit them pretty liberally with Fire & Smoke Society “Wing Commander” seasoning (Wal mart). Cooked 12min, flipped, then another 12min. Boom

I simply wetted them after with a concoction I make that’s 80% Franks garlic wing sauce and maybe 20% Stubbs original. I like to barely cut the twang and adds a good peppery taste imo. Thickens it well too

But I’m all ears on smoking them then crisping them in the air fryer. Probably my next move

Decent air fryer wings are very possible.

The catch is you’ll spend a half hour plus making a batch for 1.5 people

We regularly do it. I just toss the wings in a little olive oil, Tony's, garlic powder, and onion powder. Toss in at 350 for like 20 minutes, then kick it up to 380-400 until they crisp up. I don't doubt better wings can be made, even in the air fryer. But it is such minimal effort for a pretty good meal.

Sounded weird, but I read that sprinkling a little bit of baking powder on the wings before you air fry them helps them get crispy. I tried it and it worked pretty well. I do it every time now. Just don’t use too much, maybe like a tbsp or so for a dozen wings.

If I am not using any sauce, I usually season them before with either BBQ rub or a combo of salt, pepper, and cayenne. If I want them with Buffalo sauce, I don’t season them at all beforehand, or at the very least don’t use any salt.

My go to method is in the convection oven on parchment paper. Only reason I don't use the air fryer is capacity. When I make wings, I make a lot.

I usually just open the package, spray some vegetable oil on them, add salt/pepper/garlic, and then cook them at the highest temp. They turn out pretty damn good.

sadly, chicken wings today are the skirt steak of the 1990's. You could barely give those things away in years past. I remember buying a 5 lbs. bag of frozen wings for $4.99. Now with air fryers in practically every home, and the cost to eat out, wing prices are pushing $15 for the same amount.

You ain’t kidding. Growing up, me and dad would pull up behind the IGA and we’d get a 5 gal bucket of wings for practically nothing to stuff our crab traps with. Like an amount that’d probably cost $200 now idk. I bet dad gave them 20 bucks at the most. But this is long before anyone had uttered the word “buffalo” in relation to chicken
