my parents went to the soft opening and said it was pretty good. Apparently they are serving a grilled hogs head cheese sandwich that my dad enjoyed. its around the corner from my house, so i'll probably go check it out soon.

My family went a few days ago. We tried the seafood and burgers and they were pretty good. The fried shrimp was really tasty. The burger was good but not spectacular. The fries and onion rings were really good. There is not much on the menu that sets it apart from every other burger/fried seafood joint in Baton Rouge but the food is good.

is Calendar's the only place that has lasted more than a year in that spot?

Frankie Marcellos was there for a few years. The food decent . I do miss Calandars.

It is in New Orleans.

I think they're opening a 2nd location in Metairie or something like that.

Same, so I'm hoping it does well and has some good grub.

Hate to say it, but with the access problems of this restaurant (Perkins at Essen), it will have to be a home run to make it.

On another subject, I sure wish someone would bring back a Plantation Salad, like Calendar's used to make. It was my standard order for years.

I've been gone from BR for a few years now. When did Frankie's crater?

Hope Frankie is doing well. He was always patient with all the old folks who would rattle on with fond memories of his mom and dad & the Bread Basket...

Yeah, including me.
