It's kinda long so I had planned to fast forward and quickly flip through it, but I couldn't stop watching it. Did I just waste 26 minutes of my life?

Making your own pasta is pretty easy. Several different methods, depending on how much work you want to undertake. But the results are worth it, and for some types, i.e. sheets for homemade cannelloni or ravioli, they are almost required. Textures are different than store bought dry pasta and there are certain places where each type works best. Just takes a little extra planning and time. Give it a shot.

Making your own pasta can be fun and isn’t as hard as a lot of people think.

But that being said, 99.9 times out of 100 I'd rather just buy fresh pasta front Eataly than deal with making it.

The instance where fresh pasta shines is ravioli.

my wife makes homemade egg noodles for her chicken soup.

it only takes her maybe 10-20 minutes.

i wish i had a video but basically she 'wings it' and makes a little pile of flour with a 'bowl' in the middle, cracks 4-6 eggs into it then adds a minute amount of water while kneeding the dough.

then she flours the countertop, drops the dough ball on it and proceeds to roll it completely flat.

when its paper thin, she rolls the whole thing up like a sleeping bag then uses a knife to slice it into 'egg noodle sized' sections and then she has perfect egg noodle 'strips' when you unroll them then drops them into the soup.

its delicious but the trick is to make the dough as thin as possible. if its too thick the egg noodles are more like dumplings and they're not good.

she can literally have this done in the time it takes me to poop & change clothes after work.

eta found a pic
