Before this goes onto a page four talking about Blockbuster, I made a simple phone call. It turns out they were closed for a few days under the assumption that they were closing for good, and then things suddenly took a positive turn with a new lease recently signed.
You're welcome.

Well. The ghost told me a few weeks ago that Sunday was their last day. People were in there checking out movies and the ghost was telling them they didn't have to brin them back. He said he might go to millerville to work. I haven't been back since then-but maybe he was lying? He had told me a few weeks before that dish network had bought them back. I might go by there soon and get the scoop.
nobody, myself included, was doubting you at all .. the sunday you said they were supposed to close .. they had signs up and were definitely closing .. but, obviously, something went down in the 11th hour (per degas' post about the phone call he made) ... sounds like property management was playing hardball on lease dollars and BB decided it wasn't cost effective any longer ... that shopping center can ill-afford to have that big corner spot sit empty for two years -- which it would if BB left ... prolly came to their senses and lowered the lease to keep them there would be my guess ...

but .. back to food .. i saw Nagoya's billboard for the new location yesterday on Coursey ... the new sushi place where the end zone used to be has a "hiring" sign up that says they "may" open in late august ... peered inside and it looks like the only thing that has been done is all the tables and booths were taken out ... the bar hasn't been fabbed into a sushi bar yet .. dunno how long that would take and if late august is still in play there ...
don't really know anything about the new sushi joint next to albertsons, but they have to be happy that blockbuster didn't shut down ...

Nagoya Sushi will be at the old Times location @ 15130 Market Street. I know because our company will be installing a fire sprinkler system. They are renovating right now.

yeah, we were talking about that location a few weeks ago on here .. are they doing a lot of renovating inside ?

i'm impressed with albertson's all new buggies. they've even got the 1/2 buggies now....used to be that you'd have to test drive 3 or 4 buggies before finding a good smooth quiet roller. now you can just grab-n-go.
speaking of grab-n-go, they have also eliminated the self checkouts, meaning that free groceries for me are probably a thing of the past. oh well, there's always the chance i'll hit it big playing yahtzee.

i was in there around that time. toting around my 2 kids plus the neighbors kid. you probably heard us if you were there my boy had a superhero cape on.
OH and i also went to the little walmart and noticed a new trend. young black mothers riding the handicapped carts while their kids follow along. i saw 3 different ones. not fat and nothing wrong with them.

I agree, Bobby Lee, ... whats funny is when the wife and i first moved out here, she was like " they have just about every fsat food, or decent resteraunt around here i could want, except sushi" ... now she gets 3 at once. Be careful what you wish for.

The Lafayette Pizza Hut franchisee is Brent Stoltzenthaler. I went to school with him and he grew up in Tara. Graduated from Catholic High and is a very bright guy with deep pockets. If he takes over the BR franchise it is a big plus for Pizza Hut fans.

i've heard that name before ... i have also heard the acadiana pizza huts are very well run ... it just amazes me that we have had no pizza huts in BR in almost 8 months now ... it is not like this is a tiny town or a blip on the company's map ... you saw they did work on the roof on the george o'neal location ... here's hoping the rumor that he is taking over the BR locations is true .. it would make sense with him being a BR native ..
