I’ve never been to Afghanistan, but had my share of goat curry in Indian restaurants and it is delicious.

There’s a place I used to love going to for what the locals called food from the northwest frontier. I think they just didn’t want to say Pakistan. Not explicitly Afghani, but in the neighborhood.
Amazing meats hung into clay pots several feet down, dal that was never emptied (just added to ad simmered forever), bread cooked on the sides of the pots.
Amazing food that Billy Jeff would eat whenever he was in town (and before Hillary made him go vegan).
Place called Bukhara, inside the ITC hotel in Delhi, not far from the airport.

I getcha. And no doubt they do Persian food in Afghanistan, and for probably hundreds upon hundreds of years. But by and large, it’s a rustic landlocked cuisine.
Even the food in Iran’s Khorasan province, which borders Afghanistan, is known for much heartier and rustic food compared to the rest of Iran (or so I’ve heard, I wasn’t allowed in Iran obviously)

There have to be at least half a dozen Afghan restaurants here in Gwinnett County, GA ... spots that specifically identify and advertise as Afghan.
Haven't tried one yet though. There are so many different international options here in Gwinnett I just never got the chance to fit them in.
Going to put them at the top of the "new stuff to try" list now.
