I had a nesco for a couple years, sold it recently when I moved.
I only ever did fruits and vegetables. Super easy... They never made it very far off the dehydrator tray
I definitely did not use it as often as I thought I would. It ended up sitting for a while before I sold.

Had one about 15 years ago - it did food great - the dried fruit never lasted more than a day - kids loved the banana chips

Yep. Just made beef jerky on it this past week and I never even took the jerky out of it. Just left it on the counter and snagged a piece every once in a while. Hadn't used it in a year or so at least, saw some flank steak and said the hell with it. Pounded the steak out, threw it in a marinade over night and let it rip in the morning. Home made beef jerky is the best kind.

I use mine all the time. I'm drying tomatoes as we speak. Pineapple, mango, any kind of fruit and or veggies. Jerky comes out great as well. I have the Presto brand, no problems after about three years.

I have one that I only have used for jerky. I am curious about dried pineapple and bananas. How do you do it?

I've only used mine for jerky but I hardly by store bought anymore unless it's a little meat market's homemade version.

My parents got one like 25 years ago, we made the shite out of apple and banna chips. Did watermelon chips and beef jerkey a couple of times

Pineapples are easy ( one of my favorites) just peel pineapple and set pieces o trays for right time and temp. Bananas need to be soaked in brine (citric acid) I buy the Ball brand "Fruit Fresh" made just for keeping fruits from browning.

Do you add sugar to the pineapple? How long and what temp? Thanks

I never picked one up. I just thought it would be one more gadget sitting around that I might not use more than a couple of times, like my bread maker.

No sugar added. Just peel, core and slice about 1/4" thick. Set temp at 135/145, will take anywhere from 10/15hrs.
There is a bunch of really good info on line about drying foods.

Minewas a gift and it sat for almost a year before I opened it. Kind of ashamed of myself for that given how much I use it now. It's not a weekly use item, but I love jerky have enjoyed making my own and trying new things.

I have one I got from Cabelas that I use to make jerky. My wife uses it to dry out all the extra peppers we get out of the garden. She dries them down and then runs them through a food processor to turn them into powder. Makes awesome seasonings.
