Anyone ever put mayo on their turkey before they roast it?

Been seeing a lot of recipes popping up, where instead of using butter (herb butter), they mix herbs with mayo and slather the outside of the turkey with it before putting it in the oven.
Sort of like doing the same thing with a grilled cheese sandwich.
They all claim there is no mayo taste, and it gets the crispiest skin and moistest turkey of any recipe they have tried.
Ever done it?

i was told you can do this with most meats... instead of using mustard on my briskets, i should use mayo

Mayo is pure fat so it works. I've done it on a burger and it tasted great.

I haven't done it with a turkey, but I've done it with a steak.
It creates a badass crust on a steak, so I don't see why it wouldn't work on a turkey
And yes, you don't get any mayo taste

I've done it with grilled cheese and steak as well.
Was just curious about it with Turkey specifically. I see my wife putting up some resistance.

my wife refused to eat mayo grilled cheese sandwiches for the longest time until she realized that is all I ever made and that she had been eating them for years

I grill and smoke my chicken slathered in mayo. It's almost a cheat code it comes out so good and juicy. I've been trying to spread this method to my closest meat smoking homies but they haven't listened.

This is very cool—will try on some steaks I have for this weekend. But even sore excited to try on fish, to keep from sticking on grill.

Thanks for the link. I will try the chicken mayo/pesto tonight.
I did find this amusing:

Chicken with mayo and Thai pesto:
Result:
It wasn’t as good as the marinaded breast beside it, but I’d do it again.

I’ve used it on salmon quite a bit. It is just fat that sticks. Good stuff.

Try it on a grilled cheese instead of butter also. Keep an eye on it though, Cooks quicker than butter. Don’t want you to burn it.
