This was about to be my question. Is it cheaper than pet food?

Yah I do hamburger (drain the fat) rice Greek yogurt and blue buffalo kibble
haven’t tried beef yet.... I’m sure he will love it

Trouble with the kibble was we had to increase his food so much and it made no noticeable difference. Used to do 1.5c am and pm... with the new food we ended up giving him an extra cup in the middle of the day to try and break the hunger. Nothing. The dude was always hungry, and has never been a begging dog.

He’s just shy of 80lbs. Lab pit

I cook mine smoked butter milk brined chicken breast, chuck roast, leg of lamb, brisket flat, etc for training treats. They tear that shite up. I have asked my long time vet numerous times about raw, this dude is probably top 3 vet in ATL, and he can't support it, although my sister does feed raw. I feed my 2 Victor Hero grain free with either the grain free lamb or salmon mixed 50/50 with some supplements.

We are trying to stay away from anything fatty, it seems to exacerbate stomach issues for the beagle

I think so but I haven’t been able to tell yet. We just started.

I know we aren’t spending $65/month though. I’d say closer to 45 when all is said and done. Gotta do the math at the end of the month

My wife's grandpa lived to be 101 and his take on all the dogs he had over his lifetime was this. "Dogs are man's garbage disposal". He'd feed them dry dog food and some of what was left over from his food------chicken bones and all.

So you don't eat meat, don't have a microwave, and cook your dog meals? Me and you are different cats baw

One day my wife put some chicken broth based sauce on the dogs' food and they went nuts. Now, she has to make it and keep it in the fridge or they won't eat their damn food.

Same here too. And I don't mind. I'd do anything for my dog.

I’ve got a ton of respect for those of you making time to hand prep your dog’s food. When mine made the switch from Orijen kibble to a real food diet four years ago, knew I wouldn’t have time available to prepare their meals myself. My two dogs go absolutely nuts for Farmer’s Dog. Both my hunting lab and mixed breed leaned up quickly and their overall health is excellent. Y’all might consider letting someone else do the meal prep as a time saver. Each shipment arrives in a box that proclaims, “If your dog doesn’t love it, send it back to us and we’ll eat it!”

The last few months of my 16 year old labs life, she became picky and had bad teeth, canned food worked for a while, but she stopped eating that, cooked rice mixed with browned lean ground meat with some scrambled eggs mixed in and she was a happy dog, Nellie was special and deserved anything we could do for her

Funny story: Mom and dad had a dog (angry little bastard that bit everyone) but they loved him. Unbeknownst to me, mom cooked lamb and rice for him due to allergies. On one visit I was rummaging through the fridge and was half way through eating the dogs food before my mom walked in and scolded me for eating the dog's dinner.

It was bland but I was hung over and hungry.
