In BR about 4-5 years ago? Whatever happened to that place?

I only ever knew of Louis Deangelos, which is still around

Johnny Deangelo's pizza was legit. Loved the little italian lunch buffet he used to have. He was very nice to do business with but crazy as frick.

That's always the feel I got too. His pizza was the best in town but he couldn't run a bidness. Saw him scream at a waitress in front of the customers once

Saw that as well. He apparently had some issues with obtaining a liquor license too.
Oh, and those meatballs he made there were legit too. Loved those things.
Apparently on Friday nights I think it was, he would go around to the table and do some type of comedy routing to entertain the customers. I never experienced it but I can only imagine what it was like.

Are they related to the 225 painting guy? Isn't he a De'Angelo?

I recall hearing that at the time, but I couldn't understand why he would open a pizza joint down the street from his from his nephew's place, DeAngelos.

Didn't he piss and moan about his place getting screwed by the widening of Jones Creek?

I ordered a meatball sandwich from there one time...it was muffeleta bread with about 8 huge meatballs on it...I was like
then it closed a few months after that...

Legitimate problem for business owners over there.

His nephew sued him to remove the name. He didn't pay his 940-941 taxes, lost his liquor license, lost his lease, moved to Coursey, lost his staff, lost his mind.
Dude could make a pizza. I saw him in City Cafe not long ago and somehow got on his email list. Every now and then I'll still get a rant. The Government. Oh he's bat shite crazy alright.

So it was Johnny Deangelos New York Pizza Company at 4606 Jones Creek Rd. It appears he moved because... “I started looking as soon as I heard of the plan to expand Jones Creek Road. There was a good chance I would lose my parking lot and that would have been very bad for business. I drove around and just saw a “For Sale” sign in the window. I inquired and the rest is history. It was truly God’s will that I ended up in this location.”
He moved to 13214 Coursey Blvd and called it Johnny D's.
The name change was due to a copyright protection issue between him and his nephew Louis DeAngelo. LINK

The food there really was fantastic. It really is a shame that Johnny D was such a terrible business owner.
My co-worker worked at Louis Deangelo's a long time ago and has some pretty funny stories about the relationship with Johnny and the rest of the family. Pretty entertaining stuff.
