Boiling crawfish for Mother’s Day, wondering if I could do crabs after I pull the crawfish. Let me know if you have done it. Thanks

I've done it many time. I normally do my crabs first. You can do them together if you have a big enough pot. Put you crabs in, let them come back to a boil, then dump in your crawfish. Boil them till the float, soak them till they sink.

can you do both at same time, sorta yes you can, but just do them separately.

they have different cooking as well as different soaking times, do then separately if you want both to come out right

Of course, you can cook them either before or after the crawfish. Why couldn’t you? I wouldn’t cook them with crawfish as they take too long to cook.

I’d cook them before, I don’t need steaming hot crabs, they can sit for a while before I eat them with no problem.

Didn't want to start a new thread.

Anyone here open and clean crabs before boiling? I've never heard of it. But, actor Lucas Black claims it's the "Cajun" way.

With crawfish getting harder, I boil them for 5 minutes(usually 3 minutes). I boil crabs for 5 minutes. You can soak either for as long as you want so I dont see it being a problem.

It's pretty simple. Soak your crabs down in some ice water to stun them so they won't throw their claws.

Get the water up to a boil. Add your crawfish and crabs. When water comes back up to a boil, cut the fire. Soak for 30-45 mins.

I never boil seafood of any type for 5 minutes. Your crabs and crawfish will be perfect together. I live on the water and catch crabs and add them to a crawfish boil pretty often.
