IT shoudlnt be too too long until they are ready to open. The building is up. I cant wait for that over rated, expensive tex-mex that close to my house. Caretta better step up their game, they are gonna take a huge hit when this opens.

I'm assuming they'll have the same Thursday night margarita special, which would be cool.

Thursday nights at Superior on government were awesome circa 1999 - 2002. Is it still as popular?

Hearing the owner is more excited about this restaurant than any other he has opened. Got a lot of stuff imported from mexico to make the restaurant really pop. gonna be a fine establishment.

I agree. and f**** all these people down voting this. I here crap on here al the time shitting on Superior. But the Tex Mex restaurant scene in baton rouge is piss poor. caretta, casa maria, mi padre's, mestizos, Lava; non of those are on par with Superior. Yes i do think Superior is too expensive for what it is, but it is still better than its competition.

Cant wait for this one to open, i will become a regular there.

All tex mex is sub-par in BR. Superior isnt any better. I find the Superior in Nola to be higher quality than the one in BR.

Could it be that tex mex food itself is sub par for plenty of people?

I lived in Texas for 3 years and tex Mex is pretty much the same across the board between here and there

For me, no I don't. I think there are places that are superior to others. You being from Texas, you honestly think Ninfas or El Tiempo is sub-par like other ones?

I'm just talking about how that type of food can only be so good. Now I know some places are going to be shitty but the best places aren't in some stratosphere by themselves like some other types of foods can be.

Just look at some of the popular dishes for tex mex. Tacos, fajitas, burritos. Besides the meat in these dishes, plenty of the ingredients are just straight out of the fridge and don't require cooking. Lettuce, cheese, Pico, onions, whatever.

really i found that the one in shreveport was way better than Nola which was way better than BR. But the BR one has made a comeback over the past few years.

Good Tex Mex places use fresh made tortillas, which you can't get in Baton Rouge Tex Mex restaurants.

well IMO most all mexican food is basically the same. I just think the options in BR to go to a shitty hole in the wall mexican place lacking. We have the taquerias but not texmex.

There are a lot more places in Texas that have the homemade tortillas unlike LA places. I also think their salsas, guacs, etc. are better imo in Texas.

Good luck with that. The police will be sitting on both sides of Highland just a waiting. I figure they can put the DWI truck right at Highland Hardware.

It has been said by police for years that there will never be a DUI checkpoint on Highland Road. Way too many people with connections and money live on Highland.

Now, they might start doing it on Kennilworth or Staring more often like they did in the past. Still, the DUI task force we had in BR all retired together last year and there aren't nearly the checkpoints there used to be. I'd imagine targeting the overpass area is still your best chance for catching the most people.
