I don’t think the recipe will do well in a crock pot. It’s a hot n fast dish.

I think the crock pot is a great idea.

That’s because your intelligence is akin to that of a rutabaga.

The thing is shrimp over cook really, really fast. And grits sitting around in a crock pot for a long time are going to dry out. It’s just not a crock pot dish. If you do try it just add your shrimp at the end.

This sounds like a terrible idea.
Then again if you’re using frozen shrimp from China what the hell? It’s already rubber what more can you do?

We made shrimp and grits for about 30 or so folks and held the grits in crock pots until serving time, but only for a few hours. We didn't cook them in the crock pots. The sauce was made ahead of time, but the shrimp were not added until just before serving or they would have been overcooked.

We've also made the grits ahead of time and warmed them covered in a baking dish in the oven. That worked fine, but we served the dish at one time.

If you're thinking that the dish will sit in a crock pot for self service for a good while, I don't think that's optimal for that dish.

Y'all may want to reconsider and bring something else if it needs to be served from a crock pot.

ETA: Are you bringing this elsewhere? Does it have to be an entree? Does it have to be hot?

If you want to serve shrimp, a nice shrimp remoulade salad with tomato wedges, hard boiled eggs, maybe some avocado slices, cold asparagus...would work.

Now I see why you get all the downvotes.

Sounds gross.

It's a dish that takes 15 minutes.

When I make Shrimp and Grits, I use Mr. B's BBQ Shrimp recipe. I made it once for a work function, and I moved it to a crock pot. Basically, I put the cooked grits into the crock pot and layered heated shrimp on top (and spooned the sauce on top of it all) and kept it on warm.

Granted, this was a work lunch that lasted ~1 hr. I don't know if it is something I'd leave all day.
