He did a "Ask Me Anything" today. I'm about halfway through and it's really good. I'm not even a Bourdain fan but he's giving some solid answers.

What would you say your best/worst experience was on drugs?

Combing the shag carpet for paint chips in the hope that they were fallen crack bits. Smoking them anyway.

Just got through reading it and came to see if anyone had posted it here...was not disappointed.
After reading that, I like him even more. Such an interesting person.

where at?
I skimmed through the link .. didn't read the thousands of comments. Bourdain is an interesting enough person, I'm just personally bored of him.

Place out in Kenner, it was the restaurant Gambit reviewed last week. Las Carnitas. Was pretty good, great ceviche. Don't let the sketchy location deter you

The reviews arent well written but they do highlight some out of the way places I wouldn't otherwise have heard about. Now that TulaneLSU is no longer around, it is the lifeblood of the New Orleans dining scene

R2R, if you ain't white you sure as hell need to stay away from there...you know a brotha is much more likely to bust a cap on you than some cracker. Fact.

I really don't like him all that much but I dislike him less. He's too pretentious for my taste and has some really hard opinions on things. He is very interesting which makes this a good read.

Ain't that the damn truth.
But for real though the Gambit really have to list every single restaurant and gives them all good write-ups? 99% of the people in Nola know that Nacho Mama's is fricking sewage, but you wouldn't know that reading Gambit.
OTIS.. what is this "to bust a cap" that you speak of? like when you try to bounce bottle caps into cups?

Q: What's the best concert you've ever attended?
A:The Specials. At some crappy bar in Long Island back in the eighties.
Q: You seem to really hate Paula Deen, but do you like southern food that is not prepared by her? What is your favorite dish if you do?
A: The South is where the greatest American traditional food comes from. It's the cradle of American gastronomy. I reject the notion that what Paula was selling is traditional Southern food. Cheeseburger on a Krispie Kreme bun? Nobody's Grandma I ever heard of EVER made that shite.

It's a block off Williams, on Roosevelt across from the home Depot. That neighborhood isn't near being sketchy.

It's in one of those skeezy strips with a sketchy meth head bar next door. I'm just saying for an average restaurant goer, that may be dissuading. It didn't bother me in the least. No intent to offend anyone or anything
