Louisiana is ranked 50th in brewers per capita, according to the Brewers Association, a national industry group. The craft beer industry of 48 breweries generated $745 million in economic impact in 2022 (26th nationally) and produced a 28th-best 204,052 barrels of craft beer.

Not necessarily a bad thing. Many markets are saturated with terrible options.

Don’t know if this is even an issue? There’s only a certain number of breweries that are sustainable. And given out of state sales, it seems not overtly related to state boundaries.

Both, 50th in breweries per captia
26th in economic impact
28th in barrels brewed

So, we dont have a lot of craft breweries, but hey make a lot of money and a shite ton of beer. It sounds like the market is right where it should be.

26th is entirely because of Abita. Remove them from the equation and economic impact would be at the bottom.

I'm not sure more is better, in today's beer climate. Beer sales are down across the country. Some of it is the craft industry being oversaturated and trying to get to an equilibrium. Some of it is the policies from covid still impacting small business. Some of it is rising costs of goods/the economy. And some of it is the shift in America's drinking habit.

Wine, Liquor is pretty steady, from what i here. Beer is starting to crater. Younger drinkers are more health conscious and are looking to other options, like seltzer, liquor, etc...

we talking about production? Quality over quantity.
