Is there a brand on amazon that the FDB recommends? Looking for a cheaper alternative to Food Saver brand.

This doesn't help you much, but I got some off brand bags a few years ago and they were terrible. Didn't seal well and didn't retain that seal for very long. I think I got them from amazon or academy.

Heard really good reviews on these. If you buy in bulk you can get them for around 21 cents a bag.

There are some youtube reviews of them out there.

I bought a generic brand (their brand, I think) and used them for the first time last weekend. They vacuumed and sealed well. I can't vouch for food protection in the freezer long term, though. So far, so good.

FoodVac are good quality. That's all we buy. Amazon has them pretty cheap in various sizes.
