you guys down highway 61 are growing like weeds and are getting a shite ton of restaurants down there in prairieville .. are these places worth a shite, or do you still drive in to BR to eat out ?? just wondering, what places are good in your opinion and what are just basic "me too, here's your nachos, hamburger, and budweiser" joints ?

I hate this place. And the B.R. location is worse.

La Mestizos is good. Its a sister restaurant to Mestizas. Mi Padres is okay, On the Halfshell is decent, Charlie Browns is ok. We are still lacking some good restaurants in Pville.

Other than a trip to La Mestizos here and there, I still go to Baton Rouge when me and the wife go out to eat.

No true gems yet, Charlie browns is great for a burger and a beer while watching football

Albasha is great

I dont care for half shell

Tommys fish house is very good (casual poboys and such)

Rotolos should be great when it opens

Franks I just do not like

Meza Luna only went once and it was good

Dynasty Chinese is awfull

I believe On The Half Shell is changing owners. There may be some improvement down the road. And put me down for a thumbs up for Charlie Brown's.

Tommy's is good food. They just expanded their menu. I know they added a stuffed flounder, I want to try that next.

My brother in law lives there and we went eat one night the wife and I were visiting. Being from Houma I was skeptical to eat seafood in Baton Rouge but that was the biggest and best soft shell crabs I have ever eaten.

I find this funny because other than boiled seafood I'm terribly underwhelmed at the absolute shite the restaurants in Houma throw on a plate at these prices.

What is your favorite seafood restaurant in Houma?

If you say Big Al's I'm going to request bannage

I usually eat at Bayou Delight by my house or Sportsman's Paradise in Chauvin. Say what you want but shrimp and oysters have to travel a pretty good distance before they get to a city like Baton Rouge.

No offense but I imagine the extra 60 miles isn't going to hurt the freshness of the shrimp or oysters unless they sit in BR traffic for awhile.

Guess that is just the salt water cajun in me. Going anywhere north of LA-1 was a big deal growing up.
