I think it's used like a mini oven. My neighbor uses one to "grill" oysters on his countertop. They actually come out tasting pretty good all things considered.

I fry turkeys in peanut oil, and have for years now. My brother-in-law got an air fryer a couple years ago and they do a fine job in getting the turkey nice and brown with crispy skin.
The plus side with one of those, of course, is not having to deal with the oil afterwards, or the expense of buying it to begin with. I usually fry 3 turkeys for Thanksgiving Day, and when on sale, the 3 turkeys actually cost less than the container of peanut oil used to fry them.

It is a small difference from using oil but I’d highly recommend getting one. Quick easy and no mess. Only regret I have is not getting a bigger air fryer. I make some mean coconut shrimp in the fryer

Rotisserie with a different name.
Not the same as frying with oil, at all.

It keeps my kids from burning down the house.
100x better than the toaster oven for pizza rolls and pre-fried stuff from Sam's. like if a picky kid comes over and wants chicken nuggets.
I did make some awesome wings in them one time, but not at a rate that could feed more that 2 people.
