Breweries without a good location or robust distribution are hurting everywhere. Gone are the days when you can run a taproom in the back of a light-industrial park with a few taps around town.
This is how I see it as well. And if you don’t already have robust distribution, it seems like a pretty daunting task to improve upon at this point. There just aren’t many new beer drinkers.
I’d be curious how Rally Cap is doing since they fall more into the latter of what you describe, very similar to Agile, but a little more centrally located and little nicer space.
I’d imagine Grain Creations moving in next door to Agile didn’t help. I thought Agile brewed good textbook beer, but it was never anything that interesting and the lineup got pretty stale to me. Also, I never liked Agile’s branding - too cold and techy.

Yeah, it's not like the "good 'ol days" where a two friends in a low-rent garage somewhere could brew after their full-time gigs and make it work. Materials and overhead are just too expensive these days. At a small scale place like Agile with their production volume, you're likely needing to charge $10-12/pint just to break even these days, and people aren't willing to pay that for a basic IPA brewed with hops that were rejected by the bigger guys. They possibly didn't have the scale to make it work at market prices. Plus, market saturation compared to 20 years ago.

They are in the process of opening a second location in Omaha. Adding the Pizza oven and hosting events like legit comedy shows along with other events seems to really have helped them draw in people.

a lot of posts about too many IPA's, but none of these local breweries are IPA heavy anymore. They all offer a range of styles. They definitely still have IPA's on tap but not full menus of them like a few years ago. Plenty of lagers, pilsners, stouts, etc. on the menus.

I wish them well. I was hoping to have a few up there during the CWS, but oh well....

I can't imagine two breweries that close were good for either business
There are also 2 distilleries across the parking lot. One would think it would be a nice spot hit multiple places in an afternoon/evening. But beer is suffering in today's world. Hell, I quit drinking for good 8 months ago, so I'm not helping any.

The markets took a hit when you quit.

Yikes. I get irrationally angry at $6/pint.

Didn't the owner own the homebrew shop in Baton Rouge for years before opening? He wasn't just a homebrewer who decided to brew beer.
Yes, he moved it from Pecue to next to the Agile space when Agile opened. I think it closed 2022 or 2023, maybe earlier.
