I like the old setting. I guess I should have clarified that I find the staff to be THAT much of a turn off. Food makes it bearable though.

It's called Seafood Palace now!

You call it whatever you want. The few times I was ever in there it was Crab Palace and that's what Im sticking with.

Damn legit seafood gumbo and crunchless potato salad.

I can not argue with this. PreKatrina there were two waiters there who were staples of the place, and they were great. One was around for a short while afterwards, but he is long gone now. The new folk are some rude pricks.

The food is worth it though

As far as Baton Rouge, I'd put Jasmines on the Bayou on the list. Of course, I don't think I've ever eaten at an "amazing" restaurant.

I would also submit these to that list:

Green Goddess in New Orleans is microscopic. I think they only have 3 tables indoors. Their food damn sure beats Sam's Southern eatery. I had muhammara for the first time at Green Goddess.

Green Goddess Yelp

Another vote would be for Janohn's Restaurant in Boyce, LA. It is pretty small but has some amazing food for the location.

Janohn's Restaurant Yelp

I also would have put Herby K's on the list over Sam's Southern Eatery.

Had the Fried Chicken on Wednesday. I did not want to go back to work after that.
