So, I’m packing to move in a month or so and in my spare bedroom I realized I need to pack, very securely, my stash of 12 year old handles of charter. Anyone have any idea what they may be worth?
Not that I would part with one, just wondering.

$100-$200 depends on the buyer you find

It’s just not as hip as everything else. I love that stuff but...it’s just not the happening discontinued whiskey

Mr. LSUBalls could tell you as this (along with oyster restaurants on the Mobile Bay) is his field of expertise. He would probably give them a good home if you needed to part with them, too.

Are they age stated? Meaning does it say 12 year old or just 12 on it. Also on the bottom of the bottle does it have a 2 digit code that could be a year. They could be worth a good sum. But old charter has huge variables based on who owned the company at the time.

How many do you have? You might want to post this in the bourbon thread.

The bottle has 12 inside a wreath looking emblem and says years, on the left of the wreath and old on the right side
Bottom has three numbers 31 on the right, 84 on the left and 04 on the lower area of the bottom.
I have 5 handles

Don’t need to get rid of them. I might would be willing to share a shot or two with him for free but I don’t need to sell anything.
How would I contact him, if you’d be willing to share that, and think he’d enjoy that. I’d not like to Impose on his time.

so not to old, prob 125-150 a piece their are facebook groups dedicated to this sort of thing. But those are what we call drinkers. Meaning that’s some good easy drinking juice.

My guess would be at least $300 each. I’ll try to look em up

ETA: I’m seeing fifths sold for $250, so a handle should be $400-$450 minimum. Got pics?

Unc is correct. If your handles are Louisville distillate they are more valuable. How much more, you ask? Only what a man is willing to pay on a given day.

LOL... I’m what I guess some would refer to as “technologically challenged”. I don’t know how to put pictures on this site. I don’t know where these bottles originated but I know where I bought them. There’s a little store on the right side of Hwy 1 just south of the Paragon Casino. I knew rhey usually had some and, when I heard it would not be made anymore, I called and bought all they had.just about 9 cases of handles. Like I said, I have 5 handles left. Only drink it on special occasions now. Hope to make it outlast me. Kids can bury me with a celebratory drink!

Pretty cool that you still have that . I am a die hard charter fan from central la. Rumor was they were going to discontinue old charter “8” all together. It still appears on the shelves plenty . It’s been awhile since I’ve had 12 year old but i would imagine eagle rare is just As tasty. Don’t sell them !

the original OC 8 was aged 8 yrs, the new bottles you see on the shelf are NAS 8 "seasons" juice and is no where near the original IMO
but like Unc said post up some pics would love to see these unicorns
