(says it happens often)

it happens all the times

every year my back yard ditch and my neighbors ditch always has standing water in it, due to the river. Water seeps undergroup and looks for an exit point in weak ground. Were there is weak ground there will be standing water.

And that ignores erosion/sand boil concerns of which were are many at multiple points in BR.

The seepage through the levees worries me. When we had the big flood in North La in the early 90's, the levee behind my house stayed soaked. Parts of the side sagged like it was melting. Being in a rural area we didn't have to worry about people trudging up and down it constantly and thus making it much worse. Here though... they're going to have to have a police presence to keep folks off the levee.

And this doesn't even begin to address the road buckling that will occur throughout the area due to the water moving underground. I think it took Monroe something like 10 years to finally get the roads back into some sort of shape (or at least South Monroe along 165 Business).

If we start getting any significant rainfall it will compound an already shitty situation.

while those problems aren't good they are minor compared to what could happen.

do you think the sand boils are big enough to cause major flooding like a levee breach.

Interesting map to say the least. Prairieville /Gonzalles would get hammered in that worst case scenario.

Uh, yes.

That's the concern over them.

That's the end result if they aren't found and plugged in time.

Wonder what kind of pressure they would have if left unchecked. You think it would be like mini geysers?
