I'd be happy to arrange seating directly in front of the floodgates for anyone who wants to watch. Let me see what I can do and I'll get back to you.

Sorry, I was referring to when they prepare to open the locks Hwy 1 will be closed, and Obviously Hwy 10 will be impassable at the Levee.

Good point, I'd never thought of it quite like that.

No. We will be closing this section of LA 1 while they begin opening the gates for this very reason. Passing motorists will create too large a saftey concern wanting to slow down or stop and watch. To access the site, you will need a special pass which only members of agencies (LADOTD, Army Corps, LANG, etc.), Executive Government officials, and News Media will have. This will have to be shown to law enforcement to be able to view the opening. Very very few will see this tomorrow (Saturday)...the opening of yhe needed gates is VERY SLOW (15-20 min per gate) will take around 5 days to open them. I am unsure how long that section of LA 1 will be closed during that process. It may be the entire time and beyond though.

Very possible as will other news media. The Army Corps of Engineers will be the largest representation present at the time the first gate is opened.

There will be a TON of pictures and videos to last a lifetime I can assure you. Other than not being there physically to see it, believe me when I say you will be able to see as much of it as your heart desires after the fact for the rest of your life any time you like.
