I'm banking on glassman's peeps.

They'll tell you to get the hell off and arrest you if you don't.
They won't just arrest you on sight.

Dude, can we kill the topic of you going to the levee, or not.
Go if you want to go, but stop pondering it out loud in this thread.

It's on topic so I don't see the harm

Thanks for squashing that shite

Should BR residents be preparing like there is a hurricane coming, or do we have little to worry about?

Memories of 1927.
I talked to my uncle today about the 1927 flood. He is 87, and he was 3 years old when it happened. He doesn't remember the actual event, but he was telling me what happened to the family members, who were all living in Morgan City at the time. My grandparents house was almost completely inundated, only about 3 or 4 feet of the gable roof of the house was sticking out of the water.(my grandfather had a picture of this that I have seen before). His grandparents (my great grandparents) were living in the Basin at Bayou Chene at the time and they were completely wiped out, they never did return to living in Bayou Chene, settling in Morgan City when the water went down.
My uncle said that my grandparents and his older siblings (my dad was not born yet)fled to Baton Rouge, as did many, many other people from Terrebone and St Mary Parishes. After the water went down, some of the extended family (my grandparent's siblings) stayed on in Baton Rouge, some returned to Morgan City, and one bought some farmland in Gibson. My 2nd and 3rd cousins still have that land and they still farm it. My grandmother and the kids stayed in B.R. for a year, while my grandfather went to Morgan City and rebuilt the house while working for the railroad. He said that the 1927 flood was like Katrina in the way it disrupted lives and changed a lot of things.
And no, this elderly uncle doesn't live in Morgan City anymore, he lives in Kenner, so I think he will be safe from the flooding.

Br doesn't have anything to worry about...yet...just monitor the situation

If they are sure they will start doing that.. Memphis area they are saying will be at 48ft chest on May 11th.. By what i just seen thought the water in Memphis is already at 45 still going up.. So the 48ft mark very low

Around Tallulah maybe. Do we even have designated flood areas for this? Like Missouri?

Not sure hopefully there is some if not we are in some major trouble.. I think around Memphis its going to be higher then 48ft..

A lot has changed since then, and the water is higher...with more levees, right? Talk about political suicide. Would not want to be Jindal right now. Opening Morganza may be one of his easier decisions.
Is it still raining up north?
Posted on 5/5/11 at 5:00 pm to TigerNAtux
The bad thing about it was the levee had already failed to the north and there was no need to blow the levee but it was too late. they flooded all of those people for nothing

How is that? Natchez went down a foot yesterday.
And that includes the BC spillway opening.

Looks like Ascension Parish has declared a state of emergency.

Those projections do not take into account the opening of the BC or Morganza spillways. If Morganza is opened, New Oleans' crest will not get to 19.5'.
