Mike, whats going on? Is your home in danger?
Bergdiddly, we are on Natchez side. If the bluff was ever topped by MS River, the end of days would be near. But, we have friends, students, coworkers, etc over there. Coworker already moved his entire camp to storage and friends house nearby b/c it WILL flood no question.

so mike....is your shite going to be ok?

I meant that it's not interesting in the context of watching a show on Discovery channel. Interesting to me implies to watch/observe from afar or from a living room. The impending flood evokes a sense of fricking urgency to those in the area, NOT "Oh, Jeeves dear, this situation in Miss-Lou is rather interesting. shall we watch it or flip to American Idol?" That's how that shite came across. Condescending and apathetic.
I'm not sure I follow that, but whatever...
The fact is - it is interesting. Now, if someone said that it was 'cool', then yeah, I'd have to question what they meant by that.
But interesting? Nah...

The latest river stage report has Natchez at 65', but it's my understanding that the Vidalia levees can only handle 60'. My family owns the small fleeting/towing company below the bridge in Vidalia. They are hearing reports of 67'.

Wiz, what's up with the BR area? I don't see the warnings anymore for us.

cannot imagine reading it that way.
Well how bout if 2 days out from Katrina the weather guy said, "If those levees break in Nola, things could get interesting." See how it comes across? no shite it's interesting it'll be a god damned catastrophe.

No shite? I was just over there yesterday looking at the storage facility(blue building south of bridge next to the RV park) and they can bank on it going underwater. This is a sad situation but it is one big frickin river and folks know it can happen.

well I hope it all turns out ok. Not sure if I should be worried here or not, but I would guess we will be fine.

Mike, it's a figure of speech, one that is neither condescending, nor apathetic. You really shouldn't take it that way.
Besides, it DID get interesting!

should have a little frickin respect for natural disasters
The fact is, this entire country has to deal with natural disasters on a regular basis. See Texas wildfires, Southeast US tornadoes, and now, a big arse flood threat all the way from Missouri down to Baton Rouge.
It's not that we don't have respect for natural disasters, the lives, the property, and the economic blowback, but dear GOD if we sat watching every single one and couldn't make a freakin joke about the trailers lost in the tornado or the trash/towns going underwater, we'd all be living in a state of terror. So we isolate ourselves, make jokes, and yes, treat it like Discovery TV.

Wife just told me a bunch of Vidalia folks are driving around Ntz looking for rental property. Not sure how exaggerated this is but I'm not doubting it.
