Is there an estimate of the number of people affected or displaced by this flood?

vs preventing a catastropic event of epic proportions that would affect the entire country.

prayers sent to all those families who might lose everything in the floodway. Lets hope they are able to piece together their lives and move on.

I'm seeing your location ... just looked at hotels for Hoover and some were in Vestivia Hills (yeah, I already forgot how to spell it). Is the park pretty easy to get to? And what's parking like at Regions?? We're going on vacation and can plan our route/days to coincide with the SEC tourney ... hoping it works out.

And yes, this flood crap stinks ...

Vestavia Is not far from Hoover. You can access the park by getting on 459 from 65 by either getting off the galleria Blvd exit or the Hoover/Bessemer exit(hwy 150). Galleria Blvd has plenty of shopping and restaurants. There is not much of that around the park fwiw. Regions Park is right off the Hoover Bessemer exit. Probably 10 mins tops from Vestavia. There is plenty of parking at Regions. Parking is not an issue at the Park. let me know if yo8u have any other questions.

lets hope the Tigers make it

Thanks a ton Sheek. Yeah, I'm hoping that they make it ... it'll be a halfway point to our vacation destination and the kids would love it as would me & my husband. Never been to an SEC tourney ... Omaha was the only baseball road games and they sure were good ones! We'd only be in Hoover for either the Wednesday or Thursday game but it'd be enough for us!

25,000 is far less then what would happen if a levee breached in Baton Rouge or New Orleans or both

About 25,000 people and 11,000 structures could be in harm's way when the gates on the Morganza spillway are unlocked for the first time in 38 years

I wish it were zero. But as to the number, I think they have to be including Morgan City, Krotz Springs, and Melville. Those will be affected. Melville and Krotz Springs should not be in danger because they are surrounded by ring levees. Unless the levee breaks at Bayou Current again, they should be ok. I am praying for Morgan City, and if the seawall holds, it will be ok.
