If the site allows it you have to let it ride, I would be pissed if I was told I could not use a player in a slot that is eligible because the league said "No".

You have to allow him to play where he is designated.
With that said if he puts up 60 percent of connors production as a RB in the TE spot he’s going to win a lot of formerly TE needy people their leagues and i think yahoo should’ve changed his designation prior to this week’s game as he is a running back.
