Some of us play for now, some play for later. That's how these leagues go.
I would think Louie would play for today with a roster of that talent. That is what perplexes me about this trade.

Fear of winning is the only logical answer.
Trades like this are why he will never be able to join TDBL.

On Louie's side it's definitely an upside value trade, however, with the team he has/had it doesn't make a lot of sense.
On my side my whole keeper draft stat was based on future upside. This kind of upended that strat but I couldn't pass up the best player in the league who just entered his age 27 season.

People were willing to sell the house for Hosmer before the season started. Now that he's batting below 200 everyone is acting like this is the end of his career. He's only 22!

My thoughts wouldn't have changed if this trade was made before the season started.

Yeah, and I'm not as high on prospects as some people.

So is it Middlebrooks time in Beantown?
Posted on 5/1/12 at 4:03 pm to reddman
CBS said that Middlebrooks got a thumb injury over the weekend.

Just read that. Went ahead & added him where available just in case. Youk is not on the DL yet from what I can tell.

Probably should have thought of adding him in VIAC.

Did you get my email??

The Sox are unlikely to call him up if there is not a clear everyday role for him, but if Youkilis landed on the DL, then the Sox would likely summon Middlebrooks to the majors. While initial indications are that Youkilis’ back stiffness is more of a day-to-day concern than the basis for a DL consideration right now,

Worth a speculative add at this point, IMO

That was when they sent the Jap reliever down.
