This is a solid thread. Interesting hearing y’alls thoughts. The long term league that I commish has a league votes trade veto policy, but I’m about to change it. I enacted that rule years ago when most of us were noobs. Always ran the league like a democracy (league votes on rule changes too), but on this one I’m making the change whether they like it or not. Trades are regularly vetoed for no reason other than to frick other owners. I tend to side with the ‘anything goes’ mentality, unless guys are eliminated or obviously trying to collude in order to split the winnings, but it’s hard to envision anyone in my league doing that.

If you set a trade deadline, you can limit the chance of a roster dump after elimination. Also, that type of roster dump would probably be considered unethical and not allowed in most leagues anyway.

Im not trying to be a dick, but everyone says this; how do you know??

No one is going to tell you that they are colluding. Some times you just have to be a dick if a trade is made that will harm the league. 12 people pay to have an enjoyable experience. You have to look out for their best interest.

You bring up a good point. And that is actually one of the reasons I don't like vetoes. They should be, in my opinion, only used for collusion. But how can anyone outside of the trade know collusion? The simple answer is that they can't. That's why default should be that the trade goes through, and if collusion is suspected, bring it up amongst the league, question the parties, and see if they can defend it.

And in my opinion it ruins the experience much much more when the league regularly vetoes trades. I used to be in a league like that and it was bull shite. Trading was almost impossible even when they were clearly even trades. The chances of a league turning into that is much more likely than collusion becoming an issue.

yea like Nature Boy said, the league coming down to shoot down a trade because it makes the good team even better is ridiculous

We have 10-12 a year.

I'm usually involved in 75 percent of them

I wish more people used the trading block option that some of my leagues have. I only know about a trade once it's accepted. If I had known someone was willing to trade certain players I may have made a run for that player.

A trade that just happened in one league was Jordan Howard and AJ Green for Leveon Bell and rishard Matthews.

I would have been interested in trying to work out a deal.

I've had people in some leagues and it a text saying they need a QB or a te, but no one said anything in this one.

I've used it and nothing has happened, I've put the players I'm willing to trade and they ask for others etc
